So, how do you keep track of sales leads? I'm aware of a number of products out there:

Salesforce

Highrise

Pipe Jump

A wiki

Excel

None of them are really doing it for me. Since it's primarily me that does sales, I want an easy way to:

Keep track of who I've been talking to about what.

Stick them into some sort of pipeline that'll allow me to answer my bank manager's usual question: "what work have you got lined up for the next 3 months?"

Know the supposed "value" of my sales pipeline to be able to be more proactive rather than reactive about finances.

Associate a lead with a quote in FreeAgent Central.

Know who I'm supposed to be poking because they haven't been in touch lately.

Keep track of the wins and losses (and, in particular, keep notes on why particular ones were lost, see if I can spot patterns).

Pretty graphs!

I know, not asking for much. So, is there anything out there that does what I want? What do you use? Am I asking the wrong questions of a sales lead tracking system?

http://ventureiq.stackexchange.com/questions/34/recuperating-cost-of-business-assets-costs-purchased-prior-to-company-incorporatiRecuperating cost of business assets/costs purchased prior to company incorporation?Mark Connell2009-10-01T14:02:52Z2010-03-19T00:24:57Z

Say I have purchased assets (a computer) or paying for a service (online accountancy software), but haven't yet incorporated as a limited company. Is it possible to then attach these costs/assets to a company after incorporation as company expenses and have the company compensate me as an individual for the costs, and additionally would the company (if VAT registered) be eligible to reclaim the VAT on such items/assets?

http://ventureiq.stackexchange.com/questions/63/how-do-i-find-the-right-lawyer-for-my-technology-startupHow do I find the right lawyer for my technology startup?justinpeck2009-11-06T07:36:37Z2009-11-06T07:36:37Z

I'm in the earliest stages of a creating a new tech startup. I have a business plan, a unique revenue model, and a developer already churning out code. What I don't have is any idea of how to structure the company legally or financially.

How do I find the right lawyer to help me understand the best way to structure my company and reward my developer? (I plan to eventually sell the company.)

I've heard that I need a lawyer with an excellent network in the field I'm working in, and skills in all areas of law, but that seems like a tall order. I'm located in Minneapolis; are there lawyers like that here? Do I need to work with a local lawyer? How do I go about finding and approaching that ideal attorney?

Any advice would be appreciated!

http://ventureiq.stackexchange.com/questions/62/does-anyone-have-a-good-contact-at-west-lothian-business-gateway-also-in-edinburDoes anyone have a good contact at West Lothian Business Gateway? Also in Edinburgh?Rachel2009-10-28T12:11:10Z2009-10-28T12:11:10Z

By "good contact", I mean someone who knows how the system works for getting grants for marketing, exporting and new business development.

http://ventureiq.stackexchange.com/questions/61/what-to-do-with-software-from-a-business-model-for-a-offer-comparison-web-site-lWhat to do with software from a business model for a offer comparison web site (like skyscanner)Konrads2009-10-26T12:49:06Z2009-10-26T12:49:06Z

The business concept in broad terms was to help customer find the cheapest or other best offer from comparable offers by automatically going to those websites, filling out complex forms and then presenting back to the customer. Money is made by offering complementary products and advertisements. In this specific case, the idea was to aggregate home insurance and car insurance data in Sweden, but it is not . Maybe not very web 2.0, but if one can be at least 1/2 as useful as the aforementioned skyscanner...

I built the back-end that powers the collection and can be queried with JSON from front-end easily and now I wonder what I should do with it? My instinct hunch would be to just sell it at bargain prices (any buyers?) to compensate time investment (it has docs, quality code, etc).

But maybe the collective minds of linkedin have better suggestions? Some tech entrepreneurs willing to pick it up from here? Any ideas - where to seek more help appreciated.

http://ventureiq.stackexchange.com/questions/59/what-are-the-general-funding-stagesWhat are the general funding stagesvess2009-10-20T02:12:02Z2009-10-20T02:12:02Z

I listen to a lot of podcasts and read a lot where they talk about the different funding stages and how offer, the options and etc.
I have put bits and together but never seen an A to Z roadmap of how you should plan it, what you should consider when doing it, what sort of offers are realistic.

Anybody have any recommendations for setting up a system for managing customer feedback whether in terms of general suggestions or more specifically in terms of bug reports?

I'm looking for something that would be customer friendly rather than something like Jira which is aimed at developers. Ideally it's something that I could subscribe to and not have to install and maintain on my own servers.

Any thoughts?

http://ventureiq.stackexchange.com/questions/14/can-anyone-recommend-an-online-accounting-serviceCan anyone recommend an online accounting service?Stuart Roebuck2009-10-01T11:53:01Z2009-10-06T10:42:12Z

I am aware that there are an increasing number of online accounting services available. The one's I've seen that look interesting include:

www.clearbooks.co.uk

www.xero.com

www.thisispearl.com

On the face of it Clearbooks looks okay, Xero looks very nice. I had a go with Pearl but felt a bit clunky and overly complex.

Anyone used anything and can recommend it?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a printing company that would print our logo on cardboard boxes. I'm looking for a small quantity - up to 100. I have boxes to provide.

Alternatively, I'm thinking about good quality stickers with our logo that we could stick on the boxes.

Anyone can recommend a printing house where I could order this?

Thanks a lot!

Very early days but there is a chance i will need to print out some images from the web onto t-shirts. Needs to be cost effective as it's ine the early startup stages.

I want to make this pretty much self-service. A user can say "I want this on a t-shirt" (or a mug or business card etc) and i can pass this "service" a URL to the image and ideally it does the rest (maybe i need to set up some kind of template).

Anyone know or use such a service? Would be neat if there were localized versions so it could save on delivery expenses etc

The Bizspark and WebsiteSpark offerings from Microsoft are excellent but one of the issues i have is in hardware.

That is hosting but also laptops, pc's and so on. Just a lot of money at the early stage. What options are there for entrepreneurs to get their hands on some hardware in the same manner as the bizspark etc offerings?
